　　温州是南戏的故乡，14世纪高明的剧作《琵琶记》蜚声海内外。近年来，有2个瓯剧剧目获得国家文华大奖。温州民间艺术具有悠久的历史，如黄杨木雕、细纹刻纸、瓯绣瓯塑等，都是具有鲜明地方特色和较高艺术价值的传统民间文化艺术瑰宝。2006年末全市有文化站292个，文化馆12个，公共图书馆12个，博物馆2个。公共图书馆藏书237.31万册（件），年总流通量193.98万人次。
　　Wenzhou is the birthplace of Nanju Opera. In the 14th century, Gao Min’s play “Tale of the Pipa” became renowned both at home and abroad. In recent years, two plays of Wenzhou opera won the state “Wenhua”Grand Prize. Wenzhou’s age-old folk arts, such as boxwood carving, delicate-line paper carving, Wenzhou embroidery and Wenzhou sculpture, are traditional folk cultural and artistic treasures with distinctive local features and high artistic values. By the end of 2006, the city had 292 cultural stations, 12 cultural centers, 12 public libraries and 2 museums. The public libraries had a joint collection of 2.3731 million volumes of publications, with the total annual circulation amount of 1.9398 million person-times.

　　温州地方新闻媒体有温州日报报业集团：温州日报、温州晚报、温州都市报、温州商报、温州新闻网、温州瞭望杂志社；温州广播电视总台：温州人民广播电台、温州电视台。全市广播综合人口覆盖率97.4%，电视综合人口覆盖率97.6%，有线电视用户达122.44万户。
　　The city’s local media and publications are Wenzhou Newspaper Group made up of “Wenzhou Daily”, “Wenzhou Evening News”, “Wenzhou Metropolis News”, “Wenzhou Commercial News”, “Wenzhou News Network” and the magazine “Lookout”, and Wenzhou Broadcasting and Television General Station, comprising Wenzhou Television Station and Wenzhou People’s Broadcasting Station. The city’s overall coverage by radio hit 97.4 percent and that of television 97.6 percent, with 1.2244 million subscribers for cable television.
