◎民族和民俗 Ethnic Groups and Folk Customs
　　据2006年人口抽查的最新统计数据显示，温州市少数民族人口总数达14、7万人，占全市总人口比重的1、69%，占全省少数民族人口的30%。全市有少数民族45个，人口在1000人以上的少数民族7个，分别是畲族、土家族、苗族、回族、侗族、布依族、壮族。畲族是在温州居住生活历史最为悠久的少数民族。
　　According to the latest statistics of the selective examination of population in 2006, Wenzhou had 147,000 people of minority ethnic groups, accounting for 1.68 percent of the city’s total population and 30 percent of the provincial total population of ethnic minorities. There were 45 minority ethnic groups, of which 7 had more than 1,000 people each. They were the She, Tujia, Miao, Hui, Dong, Bouyei and Zhuang respectively. The She people are the oldest minority ethnic group in Wenzhou.

　　温州通行普通话。温州方言以瓯语最为重要，一般泛指通行温州各地的温州话。民间一般公认温州鹿城区通行方言为温州话。温州方言除瓯语外，还有闽语、“蛮话”、“蛮讲”、畲客话、金乡话、大荆话和罗阳话等。
　　 The standard modern Chinese is commonly used in Wenzhou. Wenzhou dialect gives first place to the Ou language, which generally refers to as the Wenzhou colloquial speech used in all parts of Wenzhou. The dialect used in Lucheng District of Wenzhou is generally called Wenzhou dialect. Besides the Ou language, there are Fujian, “Manhua”, “Mangjiang”, She Hakka, Jinxiang, Dajing and Luoyang dialects.

　　温州民间比较隆重的节日民俗有正月拜年、元宵灯会、端午龙舟、中秋赏月等。在温州传统节日民俗中，最具地方特色的莫过于近年来逐渐恢复兴旺起来的“拦街福”民间祈福活动。现在，一些西方著名的节日民俗也在温州流行起来，如圣诞节、情人节等。
　　 Wenzhou’s biggest and most popular traditional festivals are Spring Festival (the Lunar New Year), Lantern Festival (the 15th day of the first lunar month), Dragon Boat Festival (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month) and Mid-Autumn Festival (the 15th day of the 8th lunar month). Of Wenzhou’s traditional festivals, the one exceptionally rich in local features is the “street prayer”, an occasion to pray for good fortune, which has been gradually renewed in recent years. Some major western holidays, such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day, have become popular in Wenzhou.

◎著名宗教活动场所 Famous Religious Sites
大若岩陶公洞
位于永嘉县大若岩。温州有记载的最早的道观，传说陶弘景居此编撰《真诰》。
Taogong Cave at the Daruo Rock
Situated at the Daruo Rock in Yongjia County, it is the earliest Taoist temple in Wenzhou in the recorded history. It is said Tao Hongjing lived in it and wrote the book “True Admonishments”.

包公殿
位于鹿城西山路。温州市道教协会驻此。
Baogong Temple
Situated on Xishan Road of Lucheng District, it houses the Wenzhou Taoist Association.

江心寺
位于鹿城江心屿，又称中川寺，为我国对外开放的著名佛教寺院之一。
Jiangxin Monastery
Situated on Jiangxin Islet and also called the Zhongchuan (Mid-River) Monastery, it is one of Chinese famous Buddhist Temples open to the outside world.

妙果寺
位于鹿城松台山南麓。温州市佛教协会驻此。
Miaoguo Monastery
Situated at the south foot of the Songtai Hill in Lucheng District, it houses the Wenzhou Buddhist Association.

周宅祠巷天主堂
位于鹿城区周宅祠巷。为温州第一座哥特式建筑。
Catholic Church on Zhouzhaici Lane
Situated on Zhouzhaici Lane in Lucheng District, it is the oldest Gothic building in Wenzhou.

城西基督教堂
位于鹿城区城西街。1951年以来为温州市基督教爱国会和协会驻堂。
Christian Church on Chengxi Street
It is situated on Chengxi Street in Lucheng District where Wenzhou Patriotic Christian Association and Wenzhou Christian Council have stationed since 1951.
