温州目前已与全球193个国家和地区建立了经贸关系。2006年，全市进出口贸易总额98.9亿美元，其中进口总额18.13亿美元，出口额达到80.8亿美元。出口商品结构逐步优化，机电和高新技术产品出口增长加快。
So far, Wenzhou has developed economic and trade relations with 193 countries and regions all over the world. In 2006, the city’s foreign trade volume totaled 98.9 billion USD, of which exports hit 18.13 billion USD and imports was 80.8 billion USD. The structure of export products has been gradually optimized, with a rapid growth in the mechanical and electrical and hi-tech product.
2006年，全市新批外商投资企业223家，合同外资10.5亿美元，实际利用外资4.63亿美元。截至2006年底，温州市累计批准外商投资企业2452家，总投资104.2亿美元，合同外资44.2亿美元，实际利用外资18.2亿美元。
In 2006, the newly approved overseas-based enterprises numbered 91, with the investment of the Chinese partners totaling 36.4 million USD. By the end of 2006, the enterprises set up overseas by Wenzhou City amounted to 428, including 17 overseas markets of Wenzhou products.

◎国际文化交流 International Cultural Exchange
温州是一个开放型城市，国际文化交流日趋活跃。独具特色的文化艺术深深吸引着国外游客，对泰顺药发木偶、乐清黄扬木雕、乐清细纹刻纸、瓯绣、苍南布袋戏、泰顺提线木偶等非物质文化遗产是赞不绝口。在传播文化的同时，温州也不断吸纳国外优秀文化艺术成果。温州报业、出版、广播电视积极与国外煤体进行了友好合作。教育、科技对外交流不断拓展。
Wenzhou is an open city where international cultural exchange has been more and more lively. Its featured culture and arts has strongly attracted foreign visitors, who always show high praise on such non-material cultural heritages as Yueqing boxwood carving, Yueqing delicate-line paper carving, Wenzhou embroidery, Cangnan glove puppet show and Taishun string puppet show. While spreading traditional culture, the city has also kept absorbing the merits of excellent foreign culture and arts. Wenzhou press and publications, radio and television have been active in friendly cooperation with foreign mass media. The exchange with foreign countries in education and technology has been continuously expanded.

◎著名侨乡 Famous hometown of overseas Chinese
　　温州是全国重点侨乡之一，有42.5万华侨华人、港澳同胞分布在世界93个国家和地区，国内归侨侨眷也有43万人。温州人移居海外源远流长，历史悠久，早在宋真宗年间就有温州人侨居海外。
　　温州侨情具有以下几个特点：一是以西欧和美国为主，有30余万；二是侨领众多，有30多个海外华侨华人社团的主要侨领是温州人；三是侨台相连，温州在台人员有10万，其中不少人已相继移居美国、加拿大、欧洲等地；四是新移民占多数，改革开放后出国的就有30万人；五是与祖国家乡联系密切，海外温州人信息灵、语言通、渠道多、与家乡联系密切，是温州发展外向型经济的生力军，他们为世界了解温州、温州走向世界架起了金桥。
　　Wenzhou is one of important hometowns of overseas Chinese. About 425,000 Wenzhou natives now reside in 93 countries and regions of the world as well as in Hong Kong and Macao. There are 430,000 returned overseas Chinese and their relatives. Wenzhou has a long history of emigration to overseas countries, as early as the reign of Emperor Zhenzong in Song Dynasty.
　　Overseas Chinese of Wenzhou origin has the following features. First of all, most of them, about 300,000, reside in western European countries and the US. Second, many of them are leaders of overseas Chinese. The main leaders of over 30 overseas Chinese organizations are of Wenzhou origin. Third, many of the 100,000 Wenzhou natives who reside in Taiwan have emigrated to America, Canada, and European countries. Fourth, the new emigrants are in majority. About 300,000 emigrated after the implementation of the policy of reform and opening to the outside world. Fifth, they have a close relationship with the motherland and the hometown. With a quick access to information, a good command of language, a variety of communication channels and a close relationship with the hometown, the natives of Wenzhou all over the world have become a new force in development of export-oriented economy in Wenzhou, putting up a golden bridge for the world having a better understanding of Wenzhou and Wenzhou opening to the world.
